Say Goodbye to Cellulite: Experience CelluErase

Cellulite – What is it?

Cellulite is the term used to describe fatty deposits which are tethered to the surface of the skin by strands of collagen. In most cases cellulite has a soft and squidgy feel and appearance due to the fluid retention and skin laxity.

Before having the treatment we shall grade the cellulite from mild to severe.

Cellurase – The treatment is administered under local numbing injections mostly to grade 3 cases of cellulite. We always advise that cellurase is done in conjunction with mesotherapy for the most positive results.

Cellurase involves a gentle subscion of the collagen fibres which tether small deposits of fat to surface of the skin. The treatment is only required once and the results are instant to see.

How to grade the cellulite?

Grade 1
Typically the cellulite is very similar to orange peel. This is considered a mild case of cellulite.

Grade 2
When there is grade 2 style cellulite there is a more cottage cheese type appearance.
Typically 5 or less medium depth depressions and some draped skin.
This is considered moderate cellulite.

Grade 3
This is a lot more of a mattress type appearance. There is 10 or more deep depressions and also a lot of draped skin.

How does it work?

WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Cellulite is the term for the formation of lumps and dimples in the skin. The appearance of ‘bumpy’ skin varies in shape and size and is present in over 80% of people over the age of 20. It can affect both men and women, however, is more common in females due to the different distributions of fat, muscle and connective tissue.

HOW DOES CELLUERASE WORK?

Celluerase involves breaking and releasing the fibres with a special microblade. The bands of fibrous connective tissue are separated by subcision allowing the skin to spring back resulting in a smoother appearance.

The results are immediate and once a specific depression is treated it should not need further treatment. Usually around 10 depressions can be treated in one session.

HOW POPULAR IS THIS TREATMENT?

This a is a brand new treatment in the UK. It has been used successfully in Europe for some time. We are one of the first clinics in the UK to offer this treatment. A practitioner must be medically qualified with experience in minor operations/procedures and must be a Doctor, Dentist or Nurse Prescriber.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

Usually: Legs Bottom

What happens during my consultation?

During your consultation a detailed medical history will be taken, helping the medical specialist to determine whether the Celluerase treatment is an appropriate product/treatment for you to receive and whether it will help you achieve the results that you are looking for.

This will also reduce the risk of any unwanted side effects from the treatment.

During this consultation the potential risks and aftercare recommendations are discussed.

You may also require this face to face assessment to determine how many peels you will require to achieve desired results.

How does the treatment work?

There are many factors involved in the development of cellulite including changes in the microcirculation, accumulation of toxins, increase in number and size of fat cells and shortening of the fibrous tissue cords that anchor the skin.

CelluErase is a minimally invasive procedure where a special micro blade is used to separate the bands of fibrous connective tissue, allowing the skin to spring back resulting in a smoother appearance.

This is followed by a mesotherapy application of StrikeCell, specially formulated to assist the microcirculation and further help reduce the appearance of cellulite and uneven skin texture as well as reduction in fat. The product contains caffeine, carnitine, EDTA, equisetum and artichoke, products that are all known for their scientific benefits in reducing fat and providing firmness to the skin.

There will be a course of mesotherapy at weekly intervals following the initial CelluErase treatment to assist in obtaining the very best results.

Is it safe? Does it hurt?

Treatment consists of separating fibrous bands within the cellulite and then injecting a mesotherapy cocktail containing active ingredients specifically formulated to help eliminate cellulite. A specially designed micro blade is used and the treatment is very superficial so the risk of damage to vessels or nerves is very low. The blade is similar in size to an average hypodermic needle and heals in the same way and no suturing is required. However if the skin is thin, there may be some tearing resulting in poor healing or scarring.

Local anaesthetic is used to minimise any pain during the procedure, although there may be a moderate degree of discomfort during the treatment of certain areas. The injection of local anaesthetic may cause a stinging sensation before numbing takes place. If you find the procedure uncomfortable, further local anaesthetic can be administered.

If cellulite is very extensive, it is necessary to perform the treatment in more than one session as there is a limit to the amount of anaesthetic that can be used.

Are there any side effects?

Following treatment, the area can be quite red, warm, tender and swollen for the first few days as healing takes place. Occasionally there may be some altered sensation, numbness or tingling within the area, this sometimes takes a few days or weeks to settle.

Although the micro blade used is very narrow, occasionally the treatment may result in a tiny scar. Thickened scars, such as hypertrophic or keloid scars, may occur. If you have a tendency for these, it is essential you inform your practitioner. Rarely the treatment may result in scabs, blisters or vesicles at the treatment site.

Pigmentation may occur due to the bruising within the skin, it is important to avoid exposure to UV light until healing is complete.

What can i expect after my treatment?

Due to the nature of separating the fibrous bands when performing cellulite treatment, bruising is inevitable and can be quite extensive. The area is likely to be quite tender for several days or more and the bruising can spread beyond the area treated and be black or dark purple in appearance.

There will be a degree of bleeding following the procedure and a dressing will be applied which should remain in place for 24 hours, although sometimes the bleeding may be a little bit more profuse and seep through the dressing. Pressure can be applied to stop any bleeding and a further dressing may need to be applied. If the bleeding is persistent, please contact the clinic to arrange further review.

The procedure is highly effective although results cannot be guaranteed and sometimes cellulite will remain. Further treatment can be performed if needed. As cellulite is an ongoing problem, it can recur despite having effective treatment.
