How does it work?
Lip blushing involves using a specialized digital cosmetic tattoo machine to deposit tiny dots of pigment into the lips. By layering these pigments, the technician creates a soft, shaded effect that enhances your natural lip shape, corrects asymmetry, and boosts the overall color.
Before the Lip Blushing treatment
To prepare your lips, exfoliate and moisturize them daily for a week leading up to your appointment. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and blood-thinning medications for 24-48 hours prior. If you have ever had a cold sore, you must take an antiviral medication prescribed by your doctor a few days before and after the treatment to prevent a breakout triggered by the procedure.
During the Lip Blushing treatment
Your session begins with a thorough consultation and lip mapping to design the perfect shape. A topical numbing cream is applied to keep you comfortable. Once you are numb, the technician carefully implants the custom-blended pigment into your lips. The process involves multiple passes to ensure even, beautiful coverage.
What results can I expect to see and how many do I need?
Immediately after the procedure, your lips will look significantly darker, brighter, and slightly swollen. As they heal and peel over the next 5 to 7 days, the color will fade by about 30% to 50%, revealing a soft, natural tint. You will need an initial session followed by a mandatory touch-up appointment 6 to 8 weeks later to perfect the color and shape.

Can I wear lipstick after lip tattoo?
You cannot wear any lipstick or lip makeup during the healing process (usually the first 10-14 days), as this can cause an infection and interfere with pigment retention. Once your lips are fully healed, you can wear lipstick or lip gloss as normal.
Are lip tattoos worth it?
Absolutely. They are a fantastic, time-saving investment for anyone looking to correct asymmetrical lips, restore lost pigmentation due to aging, or simply wake up every day with a perfect, smudge-proof lip tint.
Why should you not get a lip tattoo?
You should avoid this treatment if you are pregnant or nursing, undergoing chemotherapy, have uncontrolled diabetes, or are prone to severe keloid scarring. Additionally, if you have an active cold sore, you must wait until it is completely cleared and take preventative antiviral medication.
Does lip blush make your lips bigger?
Lip blush does not add physical volume like dermal fillers do. However, by defining the borders of the lips and adding uniform color, it creates a very convincing optical illusion of fuller, plumper lips.
Can you kiss after lip blush?
You must avoid kissing for at least 5 to 7 days after the procedure. Your healing lips are effectively an open wound, and kissing introduces friction and bacteria, which can lead to infection and poor healing.
Can I eat after a lip tattoo?
Yes, but you should be careful. Avoid salty, spicy, hot, and acidic foods for the first few days, as they will sting. Drink liquids through a straw and cut your food into small, manageable bites to avoid stretching or rubbing your lips.
Why did my lip tattoo fade in a day?
It is completely normal for the color to seemingly “disappear” or look very pale after the initial peeling phase (around days 4-7). This is called the “ghosting” stage. The new skin healing over the tattoo temporarily masks the pigment. The true color will bloom back to the surface around weeks 3 to 4.
Is lip blushing worth it?
For most clients, the convenience of ditching daily lip liner and lipstick, combined with the confidence of having a naturally enhanced, balanced pout, makes lip blushing highly worthwhile.
How do I keep my lip blushing from fading?
To protect your investment, always apply a lip balm with SPF when going outside, as UV rays break down the pigment. Keep your lips well-moisturized, avoid smoking, and steer clear of harsh exfoliating scrubs and chemical peels around the mouth area.
Is lip blushing painful?
The lips are a sensitive area, but discomfort is kept to an absolute minimum. We apply a highly effective, medical-grade topical anesthetic before we begin and continue to apply a secondary numbing agent throughout the procedure to keep you comfortable.
How do I choose a permanent lip color?
Your technician will consult with you to choose a custom blend. We take into account your natural lip undertones, your skin tone, and the everyday lip colors you gravitate toward. We can go for a subtle nude or a more vibrant “lip tint” effect.
What do I need to know before getting a lip blushing?
The most crucial preparation is ensuring your lips are not dry or cracked. Hydrate well and use a lip scrub in the week prior. Most importantly, if you carry the Herpes Simplex Virus (which causes cold sores), this procedure *will* trigger an outbreak unless you take preventative antiviral medication (like Acyclovir) starting two days before your appointment.
Do lip tattoos scab?
Yes. They will not form a thick, hard scab like a traditional body tattoo, but they will form a thin film that will peel and flake off, similar to severely chapped lips. It is vital that you let this skin flake off naturally and never pick or pull at it.
