Elevate Your Look with Powder Ombre SMPU Eyebrows: Achieve Flawless Brows for Lasting Confidence
Ombre brows, ombré Powder Brows (also known as powder, mist, microshading, ombré shading, or stardust brows) are a semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique that creates a soft shaded brow pencil look. It is particularly recommended for women with oily skin or combination skin, darker skin types, or anyone who fills in their brows regularly with pencil or shadow.
Microblading uses a hand tool to create realistic-looking hair strokes in the brow line. Powdered brows, on the other hand, help clients achieve more of a powdered or ombre look instead of individual hair strokes. Powdered brows have a soft makeup look and work great for clients with oily or mature skin.
Ombré Powder Brows differs from traditional tattooing in that it is surface work—meaning, the application is done on the epidermis layer of the skin. The technique is described by its name, with results being powdery with a faded front and a crisp tail, resembling the look of makeup.

What we offer at London Body Centre
- Less invasive: Ombré powder brows are achieved using a small machine, which disperses extremely fine dots of pigments evenly into and across the skin in an airbrush or shading technique. Microblading uses a hand-tool that creates incisions or small cuts into the skin. Over time, repeated incisions into the same spots will cause trauma to the skin more quickly.
- Less pain and bleeding: Ombré powder brows are less painful due to the airbrush-like technique we apply, which creates less trauma to the skin vs. the blading technique of microblading. With ombré powder brows, minimal to zero blood surfaces during the procedure. Some of our clients say that getting ombré powder brows is a similar sensation to an electric toothbrush pressed against the skin; some minor discomfort is to be expected as a needle is utilized, but it is highly tolerable.
- Lasts longer: Results do vary based on lifestyle, skin type, health, preferences, etc., but a single ombré powder brows session, using high-quality pigments, can last on average 2-3 years. Microblading has a higher likelihood of healing blotchy or blurred, requiring more frequent touch-ups that generate more long-term wear and tear on the skin. Both treatments eventually dull out the skin permanently (as collagen repairs the wounds), so choosing the right method to save your skin integrity is critical.
- Great for all skin types: Ombré powder brows are great for any skin type, unlike microblading, which is not suitable for those with oily skin. Microblading on oily skin requires several touch-ups, which causes more trauma to the skin.
- Still looks natural: While ombré powder brows have a more “filled-in” look, the healed results appear like a softly shaded brow pencil or powder. Immediately after the treatment, ombré powder brows can appear more saturated and bold, however, brows will fade 20-30%, leaving a very soft finish and shape that will allow our clients to quickly groom their brows going forward.
Ombre powder fill brows use a more traditional tattooing method, with longer-lasting results, and work with most skin types, including oily or combination skin. Clients come back for colour boosts closer to the 12-18 month mark. The brow is also fuller and more defined or dramatic than with the hair stroke method.
Because this method has been around for a long time, it does not have the best reputation. Many people are fearful of this method looking unnatural because it does create a more defined, solid look than microblading alone. But today’s powder fill permanent brows are way more natural looking than their 1985 predecessors. In fact, ombre fill brows can be made to look very natural, by not saturating the desired brow shape 100% with pigment and allowing for a defined yet soft and non-solid look.

Before the Powder Ombre Brow treatment
To ensure the best pigment retention and minimal bleeding, avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (like aspirin and ibuprofen) for at least 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. Do not wax, thread, or tweeze your eyebrows for at least a week before, and avoid excessive sun exposure or facial treatments (like chemical peels) in the weeks leading up to your session.
During the Powder Ombre Brow treatment
Your session begins with a detailed consultation and brow mapping to design the perfect shape for your facial structure. Once you approve the shape, a topical numbing cream is applied to minimize discomfort. Using a specialized cosmetic tattoo machine, the practitioner will gently layer the pigment into the skin, building a soft, powdery gradient.
What results can I expect to see and how many do I need?
You can expect bold, beautifully shaped brows immediately after the procedure, which will soften and lighten by about 20-30% as they heal. This is a two-step process: an initial session and a mandatory touch-up session 4 to 6 weeks later to perfect the shape and color. Once healed, the results can last 1 to 3 years.

What is Powder Ombre Eyebrows Treatment?
It is a semi-permanent makeup technique using a small digital machine to insert tiny dots of pigment into the skin. It creates a soft-shaded, powdered look that resembles perfectly applied brow makeup, featuring a lighter front that transitions into a darker, crisper tail.
Does Ombre Powder Brows Hurt?
Discomfort is minimal. A topical numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Most clients describe the sensation as a light vibration or similar to an electric toothbrush pressed against the skin.
What are the Main Benefits of Ombre Powder Brows?
The main benefits include less skin trauma than microblading, minimal bleeding, longer-lasting results (1-3 years), suitability for all skin types (especially oily and mature skin), and a soft, natural, “filled-in” makeup look.
How long does the Powder Ombre Eyebrows treatment last?
Depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare, powder ombre brows typically last between 1 to 3 years before requiring a color boost.
What is the recovery time for Powder Ombre Eyebrows?
Surface healing, which includes slight swelling, darkening of the brows, and light flaking, takes about 7 to 14 days. The underlying tissue takes about 4 to 6 weeks to fully heal, which is when the true, softened color will emerge.
What should I do before and after the Powder Ombre Eyebrows treatment?
Before: Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and blood thinners for 24-48 hours. After: Keep the brows clean and dry, avoid sweating, swimming, and direct sun exposure, and follow the specific ointment application instructions provided by your practitioner. Never pick at the scabs.
Can Powder Ombre Eyebrows be customized to my desired shape and color?
Absolutely. Before any tattooing begins, your practitioner will measure and map your brows to suit your unique bone structure and facial symmetry. The pigment is also custom-mixed to match your natural hair color and skin tone.
Are there any risks or side effects associated with Powder Ombre Eyebrows?
Side effects are typically minor and include temporary redness, slight swelling, and tenderness. Infection is rare but possible if post-care instructions are not strictly followed.
How should I care for my eyebrows immediately after the treatment?
You should gently clean them as instructed to remove lymph fluid, keep them dry from excess water, and apply the provided aftercare healing balm sparingly. Avoid makeup on the brow area until they have completely finished flaking.
What happens during a touch-up appointment for Powder Ombre Eyebrows?
During the 4-6 week touch-up (often called the perfecting session), your practitioner will assess how the skin retained the pigment. They will fill in any patchy areas, redefine the shape if necessary, and can go darker with the color if you desire.
Is Powder Ombre Eyebrows suitable for all skin types?
Yes, one of the biggest advantages of Ombre Powder Brows is that it is highly effective on all skin types. It is particularly recommended for clients with oily, combination, or mature skin, who are typically not ideal candidates for microblading.
